8 November – Conference opening and welcome hosted by the National Museum of the Philippines.
4 November – The Conference Dinner will take place on Friday evening at a location to be advised.
3 November – The National Museum will generously be providing a cocktail evening from 6.30pm on Tuesday 8 Nov after the Welcome and official opening in Marble Hall. Transport back to hotels afterwards is included.
1 November – One of our keynote speakers, Dr Emad Khalil, is unable to travel due to a health issue in his family and his paper will be presented by his colleague Dr Lucy Blue from the University of Southampton, UK.

18 October – Unfortunately, as a result of health issues, one of our keynote speakers, Pilar Luna Erreguerena, will not be able to travel to Manila. Her keynote presentation will be given by her colleague Professor Roberto Junco from Mexico.

29 July – Thanks to the Conference patron UNESCO and our wonderful sponsors (the Wenner Gren Foundation, the Australian National Commission for UNESCO, the Australian Government’s Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, SEAMEO-SPAFA, the Australasian Institute for Maritime Archaeology (AIMA) and the Korean National Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage) the Conference Organising Committee are pleased to announce that we have been able to arrange financial assistance for 30 paper presenters from 12 countries (Cambodia, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Marshall Islands, Palau, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand and Vietnam) to attend the Conference in November.

3 July – More than 120 paper proposals from 35 countries have been submitted and more than 100 paper proposals (abstracts) have been accepted for sessions 1 to 12 with about 10 still under review and 10 rejected. The accepted paper proposals are now available here.
2 July 2011 – Dr Tim Curtis, Head of the Culture Unit at the UNESCO Bangkok office in THAILAND, has agreed to be a keynote speaker at the Conference see Keynote Speakers.
